The party reunites later that day, following a lead to a mysterious cult that has been using eyeballs from the murders to summon horrifying hand creatures. The trail leads them to an abandoned warehouse neighborhood in Highland Knoll, but the group is forced to retreat after a tragic loss of a party member to the overwhelming cultist numbers. Destination – Cathedral Thelemic. *Character Death – Juniper - Turned by sin*

6/7 – The party is invited to a party with Lord Rathallion, a dinner so he can subtly not so subtly enlist Adams to work as his bodyguard. After some misadventures among the Crown Ward, the group meets Lady Scorn, the cold matron and wife of Lord Rathallion, and their son Zakiel, an obsessive and excitable young teenager. Dinner commences, with Azdra being offered and agreeing to serving Lord Rathallion in return for her honor and status being restored. Dinner is cut short by an attack of a demon: one of Lord Rathallion's guard turns without warning, and the group disposes of the threat after much struggle. A breach is discovered in a cellar construction area under the palace, leading into an unmarked sewer, but the group declines investigating further, rest desperately needed. For several days, the group prepares for the ball, including receiving new outfits, masks, and etiquette training. Destinations – Midnight Isles, Ivory Labyrinth, Barren Wood

6/13 – The day of the Crown Jewel Ball, the group (Adams included) arrives at the ball fully dressed, and in character to blend with nobles. After participating in festivities, and a few pranks, the mysterious drug dealer is located among the main ballroom. Unsuccessful at getting more information from him, or the drug itself, the job is failed. As the ball comes to a close, the attendees are witness to a fire mage's charm, and the return of the so called Scoundrel. Lord Rathallion orders the ball to evacuate as the two intruders vanish in smoke. The party's departure is marred by Adams' panic in the car, but a realization that someone had returned to the inescapable city. Destination – Blood Clefts

6/14 – A meeting with the Head of the Black Roses, Commissioner Bullurk, introduces several possible jobs…very discreet. First, three magical artifacts of incredible power, currently missing. Second, a couple of strange murders within the vicinity of Conover Way, same block as the Scoundrel's Place. Each murder seems linked to him, as both bodies held a note with the Forbidden Mark upon them. While investigating, the remaining witnesses all told different parts of a story, and the group wound up getting involved with a mysterious midnight deal… Destination – Charnelhome

6/15 – The party is offered several jobs to handle at their own pace, including tasks such as a tree of misery which proved a heavy task at hand. The clocks predict a second venture to Charnelhome, to end the day. Destination – Charnelhome

6/16 – Morning is occupied with a job involving what appears to be living incense lanterns. Adams then sends the group to investigate one of two locations with daytime demon reports, and a possibility of a demon gate. Upon arriving, they meet a young girl named Anya, who's only companion in her burnt down house appears to be a massive but pacified demon named Marley. With the demon gate under the remains of the house, the group convinces the girl to send the demon through the gate to destroy it. As the crossing occurs, the demon returns in full aggression, and the group is forced to flee to save the young girl while waiting the crossing out. Destination – Charnelhome

6/17 – The morning is started with a surprise visit from an angry Lord Rathallion, having seen the news not only about his dead party goers, but also that his supposed ally the Slayer was seen in near company with the Scoundrel. After short words, he leaves, and the group sets off to meet a gnome by the name of Paidnose, who stole a powerful mirror that would grant him a single wish. Instead, the arranged meeting was a trap, and the gnome is cursed into the form of a tree while the strange and mysterious Hatter introduces himself. As quickly as he arrives, he leaves, promising the group that he had taken something important from each of them… Upon returning to the Haunt, a decision is reached that the group take on alternate identities, a safety precaution as they realize it may be time to start asking questions better left unasked in this city. Destination – Ghahazi

6/22 – Downtime. Destination – Ghahazi

6/23 – Night at the Ebon Heirloom, and that entails. Rathallion introduces the group to his favorite games, and treats everyone to a good night that seems to go entirely too lucky. The group walks away with many prizes! Destination – Undersump

6/24 – Adams and the group is called to one of the local Asylums, where a large escape has occurred with some of the most deadly. A recording on  gearforged reveals the Scoundrel, opening the locks of the cells, but not only do they hear his voice but the voice of the Hatter. They're given a list of those who escaped, with bounties placed on all of the, and the group departs to speak with Dr. Shimyra in hopes of learning more. Late that night, they search for the Bone Diggers, but fail miserably resulting in a tense sendoff and a quick getaway. Destination – Cathedral Thelemic

6/25 – The group meets the Scoundrel's Accomplice, a young woman who had managed to snag Adams' personal black journal. While Nowe is able to land a potent strike on her, and taking the book back, she is able to escape with several of the pages. In the aftermath, Nyx is discovered to be 'collared', Adams discovered to have a demonic aura, and several of the group individuals standing off as the slayer almost fires on the kobold. Nyx is fired, unknown to him as a ploy to get the Succubi controlling him to think he's no longer useful, and Danica follows him while Adams and the group returns to the Haunt to survey any further damage or theft from the break in. *Character Departure – Nyx and Danica – Investigating the Succubi control* Destination – Uligor

6/26 – Midnight, the group meets with two new hires, Barton and Lamina, and fight through the war zones of Uligor. They meet a group of rebellious musicians led by the Renegade Darse, and nearly avoid a close fight with the Scoundrel who leaves after a short confrontation with the Renegade. After a large haul of rewards, they find that Adams has entered a strange door on the tail of a child. Entering a mindscape of strange design, the group finds not only is the child none other than Prince Zakiel, but there are a great number of other individuals here. Including the Hatter, who warps the area and brings forth a pair of powerful fighters that Nightblade seems to recognize. Nearly escaping with their lives, the group escapes and learns that Zakiel carries a number of secret and powerful abilities, including being able to unlock doors to people's dreams.

6/26-7/2 – Due to the group's injuries, they take the week off to recuperate. During this time, the city seems to bristle with anticipation over an alarming newspaper heading: teleportation magic seems to be possible, with successful spells being cast all across Riltar, Andima, and Aelryndel. Concerned by the amount of panic and chaos this could bring, Lord Rathallion summons the group to a lunch where he proposes that Adams teaches Prince Zakiel some skills to help better defend himself.

7/2 – The group enters Nowe's dreams with the help of Zakiel's key, to deal with the curse that's been plaguing him.

7/3 – All of the group is invited to the opening of Dr. Shimyra's Boutique, as they discover ends up being a business mastering in fleshwarping, with Shimyra herself having warped herself into the nightmare tale among drow, a drider. While there, they not only watch the approval of Lady Scorn, but the public claim of the doctor as her sister. They are able to leave without much incident, and upon arriving back at the Haunt are given information that would lead to the location of Nyx: The lair of the Bone Diggers, but with Danica still missing. They are able to break into the lair and annihilate the two leaders of the gang, but also the succubus responsible for Nyx's domination. Danica is found alive, and saved, with Nyx being convinced to follow, as the group returns to a hideout for the night and wait for the Crossing to pass. Destination – Barren Wood

7/4 – The group is able to come to an agreement with Nyx, allowing him back within the Haunt but for labor rather than investigating. While out in Market, Nightblade is shot down by a long range assassin, put in critical condition and unconcious while the assailant vanishes before much could be found out. Adams takes the group to the illustrious, exclusive Chateaux Rose, also known as the Hotel Blood. A secretive society of true neutral, no conflict grounds within the city where no city law can reach, medical services are offered to save Nightblade. During their waiting in the side rooms, they have a chance encounter with both the Scoundrel and his accomplice Wren. While under the hotel's neutral grounds, both offer answers at the cost of the hotel's currency of Favors, to which Adams and the group agree. One question for two Favors. During this, it is revealed that the two have a way to leave Sigil, and that they intend to do so only when the city is 'free or dead', as Wren put it. The night ends dealing with Kilraeus, killing him and returning the blade to the Black Roses. Destination – Blood Clefts

7/5 – With a number of leads that the group decides to investigate, everyone splits in different directions to tackle various things before that evening, when Adams still seeks to deal with Ozgag. Delving into the sewers, and even entering the second layer underneath, the group chases the Daemon through darkened, flooded passageways that were locked behind a slayer-marked door. After a number of chance encounters, and a dire fight with Ozgag, the group returns to the surface with the stolen orb. Before sleep, Adams is coerced into revealing a number of secrets regarding his past. Destination – Undersump

7/6 – Zakiel is taken back home after an unusually dangerous Undersump visit, Rathallion uneasy by the disturbance. The group is left to their own devices as Adams departs for unknown reasons. A visit to a group of witches brings much needed healing to the group, and investigating the library reveals Enoch's position of head librarian is unknown. He himself seems to not even exist, as no librarian is familiar with him. Along with additional questions, such as the Hatter's door being nothing but a chalk outline with lichen growing around it, and the realization that no history exists on the king, the group remains without a slayer.

7/7 – Down time

7/8 -  A scuffle with one of the mobs, the Clan of Haerag, results in Nightblade running into a tailless tiefling, who once was a part of another gang, West Company. The group saves a half-orc named Jabez. After returning to the Haunt, a woman approaches with a job: finding a professor of the library, Awol, who may have some strong interest in the hidden library of Pleroma.  The group returns to searching for Enoch, where his residence should be located, they find it cleaned out, but a lone journal hidden in a wall reveals a cyphered collection of writings, but evidence that he was suspicious of being watched.

7/9 – Rathallion appears early in the morning to drop Zakiel off with the group, but also accompanied by Lady Scorn (now a scorpion drider), and a powerful demon known as a Marilith, who Adams seems familiar with. Rathallion makes it clear Zakiel needs to be trained still, but the disruption with the Undersump was surely concerning, before he and the others leave. Wren is spotted listening in secretly, waiting until the lord leaves before making herself known. She converses with the group, sharing a great amount of information but a great number more questions. Of her information, she reveals she gathered leads towards one of the escaped asylum inmates, and hints at Zakiel being the one asking her to do so. She leaves the group with dire questions, such as the suddenly obvious tower at the top of the city, and the fact no one questions what the king looks like. The group ventures forth to follow leads on James Bloodgood, the escapee, tracking him to the Fens and fighting him far from the city, before the Hatter reappears and summoning the 'acquaintances' of Nightblade's past. Slaying him, the group obtains a mask from his person, with unusual powers.

7/10 – Adams reveals to the group that he's found the slayer's workshop, one of them. Evidence of a fight with a belor inside can be found, but otherwise the shop is mostly empty. Returning to the city, the group is given little time before an emergency call is made for the slayer: sin has manifested at Fark's Road, and its barely noon. The group arrives to find three separate individuals who had turned from sin, and ravaged through the neighborhood, one of which wearing another of the strange masks of power from the Hatter. After another trying fight, the sin-turned are dealt with, but the Hatter appears again to sway the fight, and Jabez loses his memory entirely. He vanishes as the Black Roses begin to show up, and Clover runs from the chaos. In a separate street, he finds two Demites, but the group is unsuccessful in capturing them. At Zakiel's suggestion, the group prepares later that evening to enter Jabez's mind in hopes of recovering his memories. Destination – Shibaxet

The First Night Outside
Nightblade's log Entry 2

The writing below is scrawled quickly in common. A few drops of blood cover the page which contains this entry

It is strange, being so weak again.  In both being here and what happened outside. The Crossing did not go according to plan, as we were in one of the most dangerous Planes Sigil had to offer. I would be lying if I said… I wasn't excited for it. It felt good being there, I could feel it's power strengthen me. Though my thoughts were refocused when I heard the screams of terror and helplessness. Those screams, not coming from a worthy victim, but from what sounded like an innocent.

The others said I was foolish, but if they knew what I had been through, what I have done… They'd understand that I truly didn't have a choice in the matter. The creature that I thought I was protecting, was churning my insides with her arm. She was a creature I have never seen before. Normally I could smell the demonic infliction onto people… But nothing is normal here in Sigil.

I am sure I will be getting a talking to from the others, how I, an outsider, will die out there.  I wont survive if i keep doing what I thought was right. But it does not matter. I will keep doing it.  After all, I don't deserve Her if I just cower and survive when I could be helping people, as She always wanted to.

This was signed intitally with a large "I", but then it was crossed out just to an NB

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.
